You’ll find us in the heart of Costa Rica’s coffee producing region, overlooking the Orosi Valley, one of the area’s best kept secrets. Our private road ensures that your view of the valley, the 400 year old Ujarras Ruins, and 300m El Salto Waterfall are undisturbed. The grounds are surrounded by lush, beautiful forest, flowers, and fruit. You won’t find a quieter, more tranquil place to enjoy the best of what Costa Rica has to offer.

History of the Valley
Located right in our backyard are two historical sites with interesting and rich stories which are popular local legends among Costa Ricans.
The Ruins of Ujarras |
Local legend has it that a Huetar Indian fisherman found a miraculous painting of the Virgin here, which according to legend, refused to be moved, so they built a church around it to commemorate the blessed Virgin. Over the years the image attained fame due to many miracles that it is said to have performed for the villagers. One such miracle occurred in 1666 when the English pirate Henry Morgan attacked the village and it is said that the Virgin Mary came to their rescue and fought off the pirates. Fighting off pirates? That's one badass deity.
The Costa Rican government recognizes the church today as a National Monument. The heritage site, which was submitted for inclusion in the World Heritage List in 1980 is now part of the current Tentative List of Heritage Sites maintained by UNESCO.
El Salto Waterfall |
The second site is El Salto de la Novia Catarata where it is believed a bride jumped to her death at the top of the waterfall after her beloved groom fell off his horse to the bottom. It's the Costa Rican's Romeo and Juliet, without the poison... and Mercutio... and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Guys, this place looks amazing!!! Congratulations! I can't wait to make a visit. Wish I could have been there with Nicole and Amy.
